Biostimulants for Nitrogen Utilization in Sugar Beets in COBRI Trials

Conclusion

NBR, in collaboration with colleagues from the sugar beet research institutes in Belgium (IRBAB), the Netherlands (IRS), and Germany (IFZ) within the COBRI framework, has tested biostimulants (including BlueN and Vixeran) to improve nitrogen utilization in a joint trial series. The trials included three nitrogen levels (low, moderate, and high) to investigate whether it is possible to reduce nitrogen requirements using these products. The results show that the biostimulants did not provide a significant yield increase at either the low or moderate N level – precisely where a positive effect of the additional nitrogen could have been expected.
