Forekomst af jordbårne svampe og fritlevende nematoder i danske roemarker
Conclusion
At 23 locations in 2023 and 24 locations in 2024, soil samples were taken, and beets were dug up with the aim of investigating the spread of soil-borne fungi and free-living nematodes.
In 18 of the samples in 2023 and in 15 of the samples from 2024, a medium or high risk of damping off caused by Aphanomyses and/or Pythium was found. This indicates that the soil-borne fungi are relatively widespread in the growing area. Damping off can cause up to 10 percent yield loss (found in previous trials at NBR). The problem of damping off can today largely be solved by effective seed treatment with fungicide.
Six different species of free-living nematodes were found in the soil samples, among which the most frequently occurring are root lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus neglectus, P. thorni) and stubby root nematodes (Trichodoorous spp., Paratrichodorus spp.).
