Sorters tolerance overfor stængelnematoder

Conclusion

In a sugar beet field infested with stem nematodes (Ditylenchus dipscaci), six varieties have been examined for their tolerance to the pest. Assessment of the percentage of root rot on the cross-section of the upper part of the beet body shows that Celesta KWS and Lomosa show the smallest proportion of root rot at 37 and 39 per cent rot and thus the best tolerance. After that, Nakskov follows with 47 per cent Root rot. In the middle field of attack are the varieties Cascara KWS and Twix. Most root rot is seen in Daphna with 86 per cent. The number of plants counted in the infested areas shows that Lomosa has the largest number of plants and Daphna the smallest.
